"duplicity" of Russia

average Pole at the sound of the word "Russia" has a picture before the eyes of the Orthodox church, a priest with a long, gray beard, Women in headscarves, rural backwardness, communism, or drunkenness.
associate with Russia are also several famous names, such as Dostoevsky, Rachmaninoff, Lenin and Gagarin.
Cited in imagination the image of our eastern neighbor is not positive. This is because of our unique association with the Russian annexation, World War II, as well as the lack of culture, refinement, rudeness, communism, conservatism and the timeless.

only on the basis of careful observation may be noted that the Russian Federation is a true basin of interest, multicultural, folk, Orthodoxy religion but also the east.

"Great Mother" Russia is not a face, mainly due to the fact that its geographical location in Europe and Asia.
part of the country west of the contractual limit of continents-Ural region, was at the foundations of the Orthodox tradition and folklore (which may surprise us-not exactly Christian, but I tell you about this later), while the eastern part, inhabited by Muslim population, or Buddhists also differs somewhat from that of European, but popular culture is the same.

A few words about the "Russian" Orthodoxy:

beginnings of Orthodoxy in the areas of Russia dates back 988 years, when Prince Vladimir of Kiev and Rus was baptized. Since then, the Orthodox Church experienced many difficult years. For particularly difficult times for the followers of the Orthodox Church considers the period of communism, when many churches were destroyed, and for explicitly grant to the faith threatened persecution and death. However, it appears that during particularly difficult for the Orthodox Church, the followers secretly met to celebrate and feel a strong devotion bond with their brothers in Christ. When, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 90s changed approach to the Orthodox religion, and religion once again returned to the place of a national religion, it turned out that this church is intrinsically weak and emaciated. Only now, after several years that freedom of religion, the Orthodox church's own position has stabilized somewhat and many people return to faith after many years, "a show of atheism," which put the unit in bright light in the era of communism.
Orthodox Church, despite the turbulent periods that have passed in the course of history, has never innovation and has been based on the traditions established centuries ago. Perhaps this is why the Russians are considered to be traditionalists and conservatives. Currently
Orthodoxy is the dominant religion in Russia, although as I mentioned before-is not the only religion in this country.

Russia, and Eastern religions

Holiday Spending in the United States where I had the opportunity to meet many Russians-Buddhists, or Muslims, which initially surprised me incredibly, because I treated Russia as a country typically Orthodox. After many discussions with our Russian friends, and seeking knowledge various sources, I learned that in the Asian part of the Russian Federation there is indeed a powerful cluster of religion different from Christianity. I think a big impact on the population of these areas may have been for centuries the people of Japan and other neighboring countries because the borders were not always consistently defined and the final shape of the culture of the border population indirectly affected by various factors, such as population movements, local community, neighbors.

What is the Russian folklore?

folklore of our eastern neighbors, is mostly based on folklore, simplicity, traditionalism, traditions handed down from generation to generation, as well as legends, stories, and sometimes even that popular habits are formed through the consolidation of some sort of superstition.
to folk traditions of Russia include: the adoption of the guest kitchen-introducing him to this place is a symbol showing him respect, friendly attitude. One of the interesting folk pagan traditions is the belief in "Grandfather Frost", which is already in the ancient stories appeared in the Christmas Eve night as a magician and drop off gifts to children, which also takes place today. Folk songs and poems often evoke a Russian hero of the mythological and real, familiar with contemporary legends and stories of previous generations.
Folk belief that death is as a person in a dark robe and comes after a man with the scythe to kill him, come from pagan beliefs (and are completely inconsistent with the approach adopted by Christianity to the death)

Made In Russia!

It turns out that Matrioshka (or a doll made up of a number of hollow halved dolls, each of which is smaller than the previous one and located in the greater), today this famous and well known as a traditional toy native of Russia, it really is "plagiarism"!
first doll was produced at the end of the nineteenth century, but it was not a new "invention." Matryoshkas archetype, originating from Japan, that sage-Fukurumy doll has not received such notoriety. Today Matrioshka treated as "amulet" guarding the Russian home. More interestingly, the growing number of design and ingenuity of the producers of these dolls. Initially there were Matryoshkas only as a beautifully painted on wooden form, round woman, and lately increasingly found a doll-politicians, famous characters.

Two Faces of the Nation

, my analysis shows that for the most part Orthodox nation really is not entirely sincere in their beliefs, because logically it is difficult to connect the Orthodox tradition of folk beliefs. Some traditions of the Orthodox exclude folk customs, but people try to combine them somehow.
in a better light, you can bet Russian atheists here, but the folk pagan beliefs are contrary to their beliefs.
